- Mt. Zion Junior High School
Mt. Zion, Illinois
In April of 2002, Khris had the opportunity to travel to Illinois to speak to 460 students and staff at the Mt. Zion Junior High School. The students watched the project video and asked incredibly incisive questions after hearing Khris describe the history of Afghanistan, the plight of the Afghan children today and our hopes for our school.
After the presentation, many of the students came forward to ask Khris more about the project and to get a closer look at the beautiful clothing and jewelry from
Afghanistan. Then the students decided they wanted to help! All the students collected Pepsi caps. The Jr. ACE Club re- cycled soda cans. On May 31st we received a check from the school for $300!
We would like to thank Kathy Luecke, the teacher who made this trip possible and Mr. Birkey, the principal of Mt. Zion Junior High School. Most of all, a special thank you to the students of Mt. Zion from all of us at Kids 4 Afghan Kids and from our children in Afghanistan!
